Aromatherapy oils are derived from certain plants to create a relaxing and aromatic atmosphere. Aromatherapy oils have been used for thousands of years for many different purposes, primarily to improve general health and well-being. Studies indicate that ancient Egyptians were the first to use Aromatherapy oils through a type of distillation process extracting oils and liquids from plants, roots, twigs and bark. These aromatherapy oils were then used as bath scents, massage oils, perfumes, and even as a treatment for wounds. There were no synthetic chemicals in the aromatherapy oils they extracted because synthetic chemicals had really not been invented yet. The process used today to extract Aromatherapy oils from plants has not changed significantly, except for the use of modern equipment of course. Companies that produce these materials still use a distilling action, solvent action, and sometimes even carbon dioxide pressure. The different methods produce different types of aromatherapy oils, so you can get almost an infinite variety of oils and will likely find many that suit your mind and body very well in a very short time. Some Aromatherapy oils can be applied to the skin and contain vitamins minerals compounds that improve the health of your skin.
